The double thickness military model of the previous version was the most popular of the two. This gave us the incentive to redesign it so as to make it more convenient to use and offer only that one. It is still double thickness Kevlar (tm) webbing but it is now quick attach-detach. With the front of the sling attached to the larger steel buckle, the double thickness web is passed through the sight castle, around the barrel, and the smaller steel buckle rotated and pushed through the D ring. It won't come out unless rotated back by hand. The strap is long enough to convert an M4 front side mount for left hand use, as it will go around the swivel mount in addition to the barrel.

Kevlar (tm) has a working temperature of 400 degrees C. or 850 degrees F. It is several times stronger than nylon and will never melt. Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center, where special operation weapons are tested and developed, has told us that this is very adequate. According to them, the aluminum parts of the weapon are already soft at that temperature. Personally, I can't imagine being able to hold the handguards when the barrel is that hot! You may have complete confidence that this mount will never fail!

It is better than a $30.00 hard mount, as there are no screws to loosen or parts to rattle on the barrel. It is also ambidextrous and comes off when the sling is removed. It's a better system at a much lower price!
